Dr. Garland was raised in Spokane, WA and attended Dartmouth College in Hanovor, New Hampshire.  After graduation he pursued a career in wilderness medicine working with Teton County Search and Rescue in Jackson Hole, WY.  He eventually returned to the Northwest for medical school at the University of Washington, where he remained to complete an integrated residency in Vascular Surgery.  He has extensive training in general vascular and endovascular with specific emphasis on complex open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair including fenestrated and branched endografting.  He also specializes in endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial disease and complex venous intervention including Nutcracker Syndrome and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.   His research interests include outcomes following ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms and multidisciplinary systems for optimizing patient care.  When he is not at the hospital, he enjoys spending time in the outdoors hiking, climbing and exploring with his husband Brian and their three dogs.
